About Us

Environmentally responsible water treatment solutions

At Fin-Tek Ozone our mission is to reliably provide environmentally responsible water treatment solutions to our customers at a fair rate.

We are aware of the deleterious effects that traditional chemical treatment regimens pose to our ecosystems and human health both today and for posterity. We champion ozone not only because it is a superior disinfectant, but because it has the ability to satisfy so many of society’s water disinfection needs economically and without polluting the environment. In order to achieve this goal, we understand that will have to educate consumers and businesses about ozone and provide them with reliable, cost-efficient ozone water treatment systems. Little by little, we hope to increase the water treatment industry’s use benign treatment systems employing, for instance, ozone.

It is our desire that relationships that we create with our customers will not end after we render our services but continue on for many years in a manner that is both profitable to us and our clients. Because our clients have played such an instrumental role in our growth and success, we strive always to deal with them in an honest, friendly, and understanding manner. Our success, after all, is contingent upon our customer’s happiness. Together with our present and future customers, we hope to prosper while at the same time enacting a sustainable global community.

The idea for Fin-Tek Ozone began in November of 1986 as a result of a project at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant, TMI.

TMI was in the process of removing radioactive fuel rods and debris from the Unit 2 Reactor. Standing thirty-five feet over the water-filled reactor, workers were using video monitors to guide them as they crushed and removed the fuel rods with hydraulic pincers. The objective was to retrieve the fragments, place them into metal containers submerged in the reactor vessel, and ship the canisters to disposal sites.

Occasionally, hydraulic oil would leak into the reactor coolant water. The hydraulic oil, an organic nutrient source, combined with heat from the fuel rods and light from the video monitors engendering bacteria blooms in the water. These blooms made it difficult for the workers to see, an obstacle that slowed the removal process considerably.

The plant engineers and chemists tried for months without success to devise a water treatment system to oxidize the hydraulic oil in-situ, in other words, to turn it into carbon dioxide and water. At the time, Mr. Finnegan was working for an ozone manufacturer and was called in by TMI to help.

The ozone manufacturer that employed Mr. Finnegan was not at all interested in the engineering or service aspect of the TMI project. Like other ozone companies, they focused on manufacturing to the exclusion of service.

Mr. Finnegan recognized an increasing need in the market for a company that specialized in applications engineering and field service of ozone equipment. TMI was the turning point. Mr. Finnegan left the manufacturing company, took on the TMI project, and within one month devised a practical oxidation process to control the organic content of the water.

The success of this project coupled with the realization that ozone manufacturers neglected to provide expert application and field service support resulted in the birth of Fin-Tek Ozone.

In 1997, Mr. Finnegan acquired Reztek International from the Boston Edison Company. The acquisition of Reztek allowed Fin-Tek Ozone to extend and amplify its presence on the east coast because of Reztek’s very large customer base there. Quite quickly, Fin-Tek Ozone remedied the design flaws in the Reztek ozone generator, a success that delighted Reztek customers. In fact, before the acquisition many Reztek customers had been ambivalent or negative about ozone. Through excellent engineering and technical service, Finnegan-Reztek converted Reztek’s customer base into a very satisfied lot.

Since that time, Fin-Tek Ozone has steadily increased its customer base mostly through word-of-mouth sales. Fin-Tek Ozone’s happy customers are its best salesman, and have played an instrumental role in the success of the Fin-Tek Ozone organization. Fin-Tek Ozone is grateful for their support.

In the spring of 2002, Fin-Tek Ozone opened a satellite office in El Paso, Texas in order to better service it growing client base. From this location, Fin-Tek Ozone is now serving customers all over the Southwest.

Fin-Tek Ozone attributes it success to its focus on rapid and reliable customer service and the superiority of its managed ozone treatment systems to both traditional chemical disinfection and to its competitor’s ozone treatment systems. Put simply, Fin-Tek Ozone’s ozone generator work “day in and day out.” They don’t quit. For years Fin-Tek Ozone customers have enjoyed the benefits of ozone, and they will continue to do so for many more to come.

At Fin-Tek our mission is to reliably provide environmentally responsible water treatment solutions to our customers at a fair rate.

It is our desire that relationships that we create with our customers will not end after we render our services but continue on for many years in a manner that is both profitable to us and our clients.
